Brussels sprouts: my new favorite veggie????

Ok, so I made brussel sprouts for dinner last night. First time ever. I've only ever had them once before at a restaurant on the east coast and they were NOT good. So why you ask would I even endeavor to try them again? Especially when 9 out of 10 people tell you they can't stand them? Can't really say. Possibly watching too much Food Network. I have tried blood oranges and persimmons in the last month. And also picked up some parsnips to try. Possibly being tasked by my dietician to fit in like 9 servings of veggies a day has put me on a hunt for some new veggies to change things up a bit. So back to the brussel sprouts: THEY. WERE. DELICIOUS. Ok, well it could possibly be the bacon that really has me hooked, but as someone on the Food Network once said (can't remember who and see what I mean about watching it too much?), "You can't go wrong with bacon," and I'm inclined to agree. So maybe it's not the least fat brussel sprouts recipe, seeing as how you cook them in bacon grease, but it's not horrible. I will be looking for a way to cut down on the fat -- maybe use turkey bacon instead? Still, I highly recommend you try it. It's Rachel Ray's Brussel Sprouts & Bacon recipe on Food Network.com. Do a search and try it. Anyone who already likes brussel sprouts will love this and those of you who are convinced you don't like them just might change your mind!

  1. Quick note about the recipe: Uses Bacon, onion, garlic, balsamic vinegar, a little bacon grease, a little olive oil, a little butter and that's it!

  2. I ***love*** brussels sprouts. I don't even mind them just boiled. Have you ever been to the foodgawker.com or tastestpotting.com websites? If not, do it!
